Pinetown Bridge

This pretty covered bridge in a very scenic Lancaster County byway illustrates one of the frustrations of the study of covered bridges -- the number and unpredictable variety of the names they may be called by. This bridge is well-endowed with at least four names. But I suppose we shouldn't complain. What is remarkable is that almost every covered bridge is called by a name rather than a number or a highway designation. We human beings seem to need to name things that are special to us, "things" that have something of personality -- and covered bridges qualify. If different people want to call them by different names, why not?
