Kentucky Covered Bridge Association

Here is some information and news by e-mail -- slightly edited -- from the Kentucky Covered Bridge Association.

The Kentucky Covered Bridge Association was founded on December 10, 1964. KCBA has been active for the last 33 years (when we started, there were 20 CBs in Kentucky. Now there are still 13.)

I would like an additional publication listed: "Kentucky's Timbered Tunnels" - an atlas which lists all 13 remaining KY bridges, pictures of ALL bridges and truss designs (including the ONLY EXISTING example of Wheeler's Truss), maps to find them in Kentucky, and other interesting stories (including the late CB regional builder, Louis Stockton Bower), etc.

This publication won an award from the Historical Confederation of Kentucky.

The publication is priced $4.95 (plus $1. p/h) to non-members of KCBA ($2.95 to members). Our KCBA membership is $9. annually (which includes our quarterly 8-page newsletter, "Timbered Tunnel Talk").

KCBA just helped to get ISTEA money totalling TWO MILLION DOLLARS for our 13 CBs -- ALL listed on the National Register.
