Chapter 1

Economics: A Reasonable Dialog

This chapter introduces the reader to the subject matter of economics, the idea of a "reasonable dialog," and indicates the plan of the book: to present introductory economics as the product of a reasonable dialog that began over two hundred years ago and is ongoing. The hope is that the reader will join in the dialog -- in whatever way the reader may find best.
